I am 53 years of age and have always worked. Mostly in the Road Transport industry. Early in my life I was a coach (bus) driver and sub contracted to American firms like Globus Gateway/ Canadian firms like Denure Tours/ Kuoni/ German firms Jet Reizen and so on ; so I met hundreds of thousands of people from other Countries who came to Great Britain and Europe.
Some of the really special people I met were some Canadian Guys with their wives, who came over here to celebrate the 4oth aniversary of D Day and who had not been back to Europe since WW2.
I had the pleasure of taking these people ( several groups over several months) up to the Eagles Nest in Berchesgarden, Austria; they were very moving experiences that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
I was only a young chap then and I could appreciate the sacrifrices these guys made..... leaving their families and loved ones at home to come over to England to mount the allied invasion in Europe. I felt very very privileged to have had the honour along with my Tour Guide Harry, to escort these people on their trips of a lifetime. I for one might not be here but for these fanastic people........to be continued another time
